The municipalities of Arran-Elderslie, Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss have partnered with EPCOR to bring natural gas to residents, businesses and farms in Southern Bruce County, Ontario.

Approval from the Ontario Energy Board is required before construction of the natural gas distribution network can begin. If approved, it is expected that construction would start sometime in 2018. Learn more about the regulatory process.

Construction Details

There are three phases that will construct a transmission grid first and then a distribution network in many segments servicing these communities.

While routing of the gas infrastructure is still being developed, our current plan is:

  • Approximately 245 km of natural gas pipeline with 145 km natural gas distribution network.
  • Key towns to be services include: Kincardine, Tiverton, Chesley, Paisley, Lucknow and Ripley.
  • The transmission and distribution will be built concurrently at some points (meaning we won't wait to finish the transmission lines before constructing distribution lines).

The project will be developed in three phases. While current routing may change based on consultation and route optimization. EPCOR will review preferred routes with the communities again during the next round of public open houses.
