EPCOR has been going through the regulatory approval process in order to complete the Southern Bruce Natural Gas Project in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, the Municipality of Kincardine and the Township of Huron-Kinloss. In order to complete all the necessary requirements set out by the Municipalities and OEB the following applications are required.

Franchise Applications

EPCOR has applied for approval of a natural gas franchise agreement with the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, the Municipality of Kincardine and the Township of Huron-Kinloss. In April 2018, OEB ruling awarded EPCOR the project and issued the certificates of public convenience and necessity. These certificates grant the authority to construct and operate a natural gas distribution system. EPCOR has applied to transfer the certificates to EPCOR Natural Gas Limited Partnership is intended to consolidate certain of its natural gas operations in Ontario under a single entity.

Common Infrastructure Plan (CIP) Application

As a result of the Generic Hearing, the OEB decided to implement a competitive process for the Southern Bruce project. EPCOR submitted its Common Infrastructure Plan to the OEB on October, 16, 2017. Based on these submissions, the OEB awarded the project to EPCOR in April 2018.

Leave to Construct (LTC) Application

Following the Ontario Energy Boards (OEB) decision to award EPCOR the Southern Bruce Natural Gas Project, EPCOR submitted a Leave to Construct Application the OEB. Once the OEB approves the Leave to Construct application EPCOR will then be able to begin construction of the natural gas transmission and distribution system in the Municipalities of Arran-Elderslie and Kincardine as well as the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
